How/When to Use:

The Quake Alarm™ is designed to provide instant warning of seismic activity by detecting the "P" wave (compression wave) of an earthquake, which travels faster than the more destructive "S" wave (shear wave). The Quake Alarm™ saves valuable seconds by removing the guesswork in earthquake detection. It is capable of detecting large earthquakes that occur hundreds of miles away and can detect moderate to minor earthquakes for many miles around your local area. One very important advantage of the Quake Alarm™ is that it can wake you up and alert you the moment the quake starts so that you can immediately take cover or tend to other family members. The human mind relies upon the sensations from the inner ear combined with the sense of sight to determine the sensation of motion the body is undergoing at the time that an earthquake starts. Excellent device. Already have two.
Excellent device. Already have two. Alerted on Dec 29/15 to P wave about 12 to 15 seconds before S wave arrived. Epicentre was about 60 miles away. Enough time to wake up and prepare for shaking. 2 more Quake Alarms will ensure we hear the warning anywhere and anytime in house.

I love the alarm! I
I love the alarm! I actually purchased them for friends living in Nepal. I was in Kathmandu for the major earthquakes of last year and the warning it gave me enabled me to run to a ‘safe’ place in my yard to ride it through! I would recommend them for anyone living in an earthquake zone.

Quake Alarm
We bought the alarm in Sept 2015. It was a fiddle to install but now it hangs discreetly in a corner in our basement. Dec 29, 2015 we had a 4.3M earthquake and it worked like a charm. I woke up to feel the house shaking and was second guessing whether it actually was an earthquake when I realized that the Quake Alarm was going off. That confirmed that it was really happening which then threw me into action. I'm not sure if it was triggered before the shaking started because I was asleep and it all happened so quickly but regardless I am very glad we have it!

When I got it one
When I got it one of the little stopper things for the center wand had come undone. I have never really been able to put it on the wall in a veritical position with the wand thingy hanging in the center. It has to be on a / angel and looks ridiculous. I have never installed the battery and after receiving regretted the purchase as I don't think it will really make much difference should be have a quake.
