Datrex Food Ration Bars are excellent tasting and are ideal for emergency reserves, survival kits, earthquake 72-hour kits, and of course, life rafts.

Each multi-layered sealed pouch contains 12 individually wrapped bars which contain 200 calories each. The outer foil package is heat sealed to maintain maximum freshness and ease of dispersing.

Datrex Food Rations are is used by the American Red Cross, U.S. Coast Guard, and many other groups and organizations around the world for use as emergency survival food. In a survival situation, one block of 12 bars is sufficient to sustain a person for 3 days on land and 3 to 4 days at sea.

They are made to be high in calories and low in protein so as to provide high energy yet require minimal water for digestion.

All natural ingredients. No preservatives.

Non affected by high heat or freezing cold.

No cooking or heating needed. Eat straight from the package.

Love them for activities
I love to take these when on long multi day backpacks/climbs apt ice climbs as they don’t freeze. They taste great, don’t provoke thirst, are lightweight, and they pack a caloric punch.
Only downside is they can get crushed easily.

compact package
Unfortunately will not be able to test item till I have to. On Keto so one bite will send me out of ketosis. Can assume its like a hard pack of dried dates cemented together. Its packaged really well and easy to store and stack.

Pleasant surprise
I wanted to start an emergency kit and decided to buy different brands of these emergency rations to taste them before deciding which brand to buy in bulk. I´m glad I did, this Datrex bar tasted much better than I expected, I thought it would be similar to cardboard, but no, it actually has a very good taste! it tastes a little bit like honey but it´s not an overwhelming flavor at all, it is just pleasant, you can´t really tell a flavour. The bar itself is a bit crumbly, so it´s not hard to eat at all. Once you open the vacuum-sealed pack, inside each bar is individually wrapped with a very thin plastic, which I needed scissors or a knife to open because it´s too tight. I tried one of these bars after I had done a 24-hour fasting, so I was hungry and thirsty, and I was able to eat it very easily without needing to drink any water along. I can see why they say that the bars are non-thirst provoking, it felt true, I had the same level of thirst after eating the bar, than I had before. I liked the bars so much that I´m thinking to use them not only for an emergency kit, but also to keep in the purse, or backpack, to have handy whenever I´m outside and get hungry, and thinking of bringing extra to share. They´re much better than granola bars, and much easier to eat.

Datrex industry standard and nobody knows why
Its a lifeboat ration. Fresh packaging date, I love that its in a thick vacuum sealed bag and the portions are individually wrapped. As for the taste, its a dry crumbly biscuit will almost no flavor. If it tasted good you might eat all your rations at once. Last resort food. I would not use these in a 72 hour kit, it would crush your spirits.
